Artifact Overview

This high school opened in 1915 to serve the growing student population of the once small village of Highland Park. The village's population had risen dramatically since Henry Ford moved his automobile production from Detroit to the new Highland Park plant in 1909. When the school opened, more than 800 students enrolled and more followed. Within a few years, additional educational facilities were needed.
