Couple on a Columbia Tandem Tricycle with Canopy, 1887

01

Artifact Overview

Couples in the late 1880s could enjoy touring together on a tandem tricycle. This photograph shows a man and woman probably taking off for a leisurely day out. The canopy would protect against the sun. When they reached their destination they could break out picnic supplies and food, likely placed in the basket and package seen secured over the front wheel.
