Artifact Overview

Detroit hosted its first Grand Prix in 1982. The annual race transitioned from Formula One to the CART Indy car series in 1989, and it moved from downtown to nearby Belle Isle three years later. This poster from 1993 played on Georges Seurat's painting "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte." Danny Sullivan won that year's race.
