McCormick Tractor Hubcap, circa 1920
01
Artifact Overview
Like automobiles, early tractors had wheels with a central hub and greased wheel bearing. Hub caps kept grease in and dust out. Beginning in 1915, the Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Company of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, supplied hubcaps to manufacturers. This one was made for the International Harvester Company, producer of McCormick tractors.
