Artifact Overview

A stethoscope provides a noninvasive way to check an animal's health. A veterinarian moves the stethoscope's "bell" over an animal's chest and abdomen, listening through the earpieces for any irregular sounds that may indicate damage or illness. Veterinarian F. Eugene Eads from Grosse Pointe, Michigan, used this stethoscope in his practice.
