Sherman Fairchild worked to advance aerial photographic technology during World War I. After the war, he produced cameras specially designed for aerial survey work and founded an influential commercial aerial survey company. Fairchild promoted aerial photography and manufactured innovative aerial cameras for both military and civilian use until well after World War II.
