25,000 Employees at the Ford Motor Company Highland Park Plant, circa 1912

01

Artifact Overview

Thousands of Ford Motor Company employees posed at its Highland Park plant for this photograph in 1913. Ford published the photo in Ford Times, the company's magazine, and described it as "the largest specially posed photograph ever taken." Still, the 25,000 number on the postcard was exaggerated -- Ford employed closer to 15,000 people in the plant at the time.
