Turn-of-the-20th-century streetcars offered a convenient, practical and affordable way to get around cities. For a small fee, a person could hop onto a streetcar and travel to work, school, a local business, or other destinations. This photograph shows the rail lines that led in and out of Cadillac Square in Detroit, Michigan, along the major thoroughfares. Three streetcars can be seen in the foreground.
