Starting in the early 1910s, Ford Motor Company established a network of domestic assembly plants in major American cities. Ford's Hamilton, Ohio, plant opened in 1920. Initially planned to build tractors, the factory was soon converted to automobile production. Employees there made parts for bomber engines during World War II. Bendix Aviation Corporation purchased the plant in 1951.
