Artifact Overview

Veterinarian George Sturm (1904-1980) traveled from farm to farm in the mid-1900s dispensing home-mixed medicines to ailing horses, cows, and other farm animals around Bad Axe, Michigan, where he practiced. Rural veterinarians would often mix their own medicines during this time. Sturm used this chemical graduate -- a tall measuring device with lines indicating exact amounts -- to accurately measure liquid ingredients.
