Pound Puppies were "lovable, huggable" stuffed animals in need of a home. Created in 1984, they became one of the best-selling toys during the mid-1980s. Each animal came with its own carrying case and adoption certificate. The toy spawned other stuffed animal toys (Pound Purries) and even its own weekly television show.
