Several pilots are photographed with a B-24 bomber at Ford Motor Company's Willow Run plant in December 1943. Members of the Women Airforce Service Pilots tested and ferried airplanes throughout the United States during World War II. Most of the bombers built at Willow Run left under their own power, taking off from the factory's on-site airport.
