Artifact Overview
Richard M. Nixon was a three-time Republican Party presidential nominee. In 1960, Nixon narrowly lost to John F. Kennedy -- and it appeared his political career was over. He continued to support Republicans over the next several years and in 1968, he was chosen party standard-bearer again. This time he won. Four years later Nixon won again -- in a landslide.
