Walter L. Main started his own circus in 1886. He based this new venture in his hometown of Geneva, Ohio. When the traveling show's season ended, the circus returned to Geneva for the winter. Here, Main lived as a successful businessman and prominent citizen. This 1899 invitation lists Main as a member of the Grand Christmas Ball's Reception Committee.
