Artifact Overview

In 1930, Henry Ford commissioned Robert Derrick to create a gatehouse entrance for Greenfield Village. Like the Museum, the gatehouse was designed in a colonial revival style. This decorative building provided an orientation to the historic site. In 1935, Derrick enlarged the building, adding a waiting room, visible on the left and a porch on the rear of the building.
