Essex Motor Company was formed by Hudson Motor Car Company in 1918. Essex debuted its first models the following year. The success of Essex helped Hudson rank third in U.S. automobile production in 1925. The Essex Super Six was introduced in 1927. Hudson phased out the Essex nameplate beginning in 1932.
