Moonlight Wiener Roast in the Arizona Desert, 1955

01

Artifact Overview

A group of happy people roasts hot dogs by the light of the desert moon in this photo taken in 1955. The cactus, like the grand specimens surrounding these reveling roasters, is an enduring symbol of Arizona. The saguaro cactus blossom was designated the state's official flower in 1931.
