Cleveland celebrated the centennial of the city's incorporation with the Great Lakes Exposition during the summers of 1936 and 1937. This commemorative half-dollar coin, issued by the U. S. Mint, celebrated both events. Fairgoers could purchase this coin for a dollar and a half as a souvenir of their visit.
