Artifact Overview

About 1914, Clara and Henry Ford purchased a summer cottage at Harbor Beach, Michigan, located on Lake Huron about 125 miles north of Detroit. The couple sometimes sailed to the cottage aboard their yacht Sialia. Later, their son Edsel stayed at Harbor Beach with his own family. In 1929, Clara and Henry began summering in Michigan's Upper Peninsula instead.
