Edsel Ford's Speedboat "Typhoon," June 1934

01

Artifact Overview

Edsel Ford enjoyed boating. He owned an impressive collection of watercraft from large pleasure yachts to powerboats. Typhoon was a sleek 40-foot mahogany runabout built in 1929. With a 600-horsepower engine, it was fast. Edsel used this speedboat for enjoyment and relaxation, and to commute from his Lake St. Clair home to his office at the Ford Rouge plant.
