Bobby Unser Driving His Rislone Eagle Race Car, Langhorne 150 Race, Langhorne Speedway, Pennsylvania, 1968

01

Artifact Overview

Bobby Unser crossed the finish line in second place behind Gordon Johncock at Langhorne Speedway on June 23, 1968. Unser's number three race car reveals several innovations adopted by a majority of Indy-style racers in the 1960s. The placement of the engine, mounted in the rear, and the type of engine used, a Ford V-8, were two key innovations.
