Naturalist and essayist John Burroughs wrote about what could be found in accessible and familiar landscapes. For Burroughs, that often meant the land around his homes in the Catskills of upstate New York. He is pictured here along the "Pepacton" (known today as the East Branch of the Delaware River), a stream that provided Burroughs a lifetime of inspiration from his days exploring it as a youth.
