01

Artifact Overview

The hex key tool was created by Allen Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut, about 1910. The tool is sometimes called an "Allen wrench" as a result. Hex keys are small and inexpensive to produce, and hex-head screws are frequently used in furniture and other items that require some assembly by the customer. This key was used with a folding bicycle.
