Artifact Overview

Ford Motor Company built two of these vehicles to promote electric cars. Starting with a European Ford Focus, engineers replaced the stock powertrain with an electric motor and batteries. The cars were driven by various celebrities appearing on comedian Jay Leno's television talk show. One car was donated to The Henry Ford, the other to the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
