OLPC XO-1 Laptop Computer, 2008

01

Artifact Overview

The One Laptop Per Child project was started by MIT Media Lab founder Nicholas Negroponte to provide children in the developing world with cheap, portable personal computers. The rugged case, long battery life, robust antennae, and custom educational software make the OLPC child-friendly. Though the influence of the OLPC on global learning is unclear, over 2 million have been distributed.
