Book, "George W. Bush and his Family Paper Dolls," 2001

Artifact Overview

Republican nominee George W. Bush won a narrow victory over his Democratic opponent, Vice President Al Gore, in the 2000 presidential election. Bush's win hinged on securing Florida's twenty-five electoral votes. The state's popular vote was close--only a couple hundred votes separated the two candidates. Legal battles over recounts ensued. In mid-December the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to stop the recounts, giving Bush the victory.
