Artifact Overview

Chicago's 1933-34 Century of Progress Exposition used the theme of progress to encourage optimism during the Depression. Some of the fair's largest and most popular exhibitions, featuring a variety of demonstrations, displays, and visitor experiences, were mounted by automotive companies. This aerial photograph shows (from front to back) the General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford buildings along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
