Lou Henry Hoover, former First Lady and president of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, wrote this letter to Edsel Ford, president of Ford Motor Company, on behalf of a young Girl Scout. The girl's father, a former Ford employee, was out of work. Within days of receiving Hoover's inquiry, Ford rehired the man.
