Ford Motor Company poured resources into the 1939-40 New York World's Fair, spending more than $5 million to construct and maintain its elaborate and well-attended exhibition space. During the fair, Ford hosted this group of Australian industrialists, who studied the Ford exposition to learn about "the best and latest improvements in American industry" and eventually apply them in Australian factories.
