Toys "R" Us Fall Baby Store Catalog, 1996

01

Artifact Overview

In 1948, Charles Lazarus started a baby furniture store. He kept adding toys, realizing that--unlike furniture--toys broke or fell out of fashion and had to be frequently replaced. During the 1950s, Lazarus adopted a self-serve supermarket model for his store. Toys R Us would grow to become one of the largest and most beloved brands in the world.
