Artifact Overview

From late 1893 to mid-1897, Henry and Clara Ford rented one half of a duplex house at 58 Bagley Avenue in Detroit. Henry built the 1896 Quadricycle, his first automobile, in a shed behind the house. By the time Ford began assembling Greenfield Village in 1929, the shed was gone and the house was converted into a tea room.
