Slot Car, 1965-1970

01

Artifact Overview

Slot car racing was a popular hobby by the early 1960s. A small electric motor, powered by current running through the track, ran the car faster or slower as the driver moved a plunger. Slot cars were modeled after everything from race cars to production vehicles. Its rear-wheel drivetrain notwithstanding, this car was inspired by the 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado.
