Presto Whip Building, Dearborn, Michigan, 1976
01
Artifact Overview
Roadside photographer John Margolies documented the Presto Whip silos in front of the Delsoy Products (Whitehouse Products Incorporated) factory in Dearborn, Michigan. The silos held soybean oil and sugar -- ingredients in Presto Whip, a soy-based, non-dairy whipped topping. The company fashioned these eye-catching advertisements around ordinary storage tanks. The silos came down in the 1980s, but residents fondly remember the recognizable landmarks.
