Artifact Overview

In 1956, Eliot Noyes was hired by IBM to create a holistic corporate identity program--the first of its kind. Noyes employed midcentury design luminaries to unite IBM's brand identity: logos to packaging, company culture to architecture. This screen-printed fabric references Paul Rand's graphic work for IBM, but was executed by Angelo Testa, a notable Chicago textile producer and designer.
