Shelby American campaigned four Ford GT40 Mark II cars at Le Mans in 1966. The #2 car, co-driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, won the race. The #1 car, co-piloted by Ken Miles and Denny Hulme, took second. The #5 car of Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson finished third. Dan Gurney's and Jerry Grant's #3 car did not finish.
