After Edsel Ford passed away in 1943, Henry and Clara Ford built a workshop in Greenfield Village to memorialize their son. It was based on a workshop that father and son shared at the family's former home in Detroit's Boston-Edison neighborhood. Detailed photographs were taken of the old house to inform the design of the memorial building.
