1967 Indianapolis 500 -- Item 1958

Dave Friedman captured and preserved auto racing history. His photography -- and his collection of works by other photographers -- documents key races, cars, drivers, and teams. This photo caught Jackie Stewart trying out the cockpit in Jim Hurtubise's #56 car before the 1967 Indianapolis 500. Hurtubise did not qualify for the race, but Stewart finished 18th in his own #24 car.
