Looking for a reliable source of rubber, in 1927 Henry Ford pushed forward with his idea of establishing rubber tree plantations in the Brazilian Amazon. After determining that a region along the Tapajos River might provide productive sites, Ford sent University of Michigan botanist Carl D. LaRue to generate a report on the area. The resulting report can be seen above.
