Patricia M. (Pat) Carrigan was elected to the Michigan State University (MSU) Board of Trustees in 1970, serving from 1971 to 1979. Carrigan held a degree in education from MSU and was the research director of the Ann Arbor school district at the time of her election. During her tenure, Carrigan became the first woman to serve as board chair.
