Hillary Clinton Campaign Button, 2016

01

Artifact Overview

On June 7, 2016, candidate Hillary Clinton won several state Democratic Party Presidential primaries to secure a majority of pledged delegates. These victories and the support of unpledged party superdelegates -- elected officials and leaders who attend the convention -- gave Clinton the votes needed for the nomination. Clinton became the first woman nominated for President of a major political party.
