Artifact Overview

Ford Advanced Vehicles of Great Britain built five GT40 cars with open-top roadster bodies. Two of these prototypes were sent to Shelby American for testing. One of the five roadsters, chassis GT/109, was entered in the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans by Ford of France. Gearbox problems prevented drivers Maurice Trintignant and Guy Ligier from finishing the race.
