1958 Edsel Advertisement, "These Carriers with Covered Cars Are Headed in Your Direction"

Ford Motor Company introduced its new Edsel line of automobiles on September 4, 1957. Leading up to the big reveal, Ford stirred excitement with tantalizing magazine advertisements like this one. But an ill-timed recession and the Edsel's unconventional styling, among other factors, resulted in poor sales. Edsel was discontinued after the 1960 model year.
