Art scholar, collector and benefactor Robert Hudson Tannahill (1893-1969) served as honorary curator of American art and trustee of the Founders Society at the Detroit Institute of Arts. He donated many of the museum's most recognizable paintings. Tannahill actively supported many other cultural institutions across metro Detroit, including Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum, where he sat on the board of trustees.
