Artifact Overview
The 51st running of the Indianapolis 500 was held over two days, May 30-31, 1967, due to a mid-race rain delay. Parnelli Jones led most of the race with his radical gas turbine car, but a failed transmission forced him out with three laps remaining. A.J. Foyt took the checkered flag for the third of his four Indy 500 victories.
