Wisconsin-born Gary Congdon competed in 28 USAC Championship Car races from 1965 to 1967. He made one appearance at the Indianapolis 500, finishing in 25th place at the 1966 race. He failed to qualify for Indy in 1967. Congdon was killed in a midget car race at Terra Haute, Indiana, in September 1967.
