Lyn St. James had multiple regional sports car championships to her credit when she turned pro in 1979. She built an impressive career in sports car racing through the 1980s. St. James shifted her focus to open-wheel cars in the 1990s, competing seven times in the Indianapolis 500 from 1992 to 2000. She retired from competitive driving in 2001.
