Lyn St. James competed in the Indianapolis 500 seven times from 1992 through 2000. In 1993, she drove the #90 Ford-Cosworth powered Lola for Dick Simon Racing, with major sponsorship from J.C. Penney. St. James qualified with a speed of 218.040 mph. During the race, gearbox trouble ended her run after 176 laps.
