Drive Shaft

01

Artifact Overview

In a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive automobile, the drive shaft transfers power from the engine, by way of the transmission, to the rear wheels, by way of the differential and rear axle. At both ends, universal joints -- like the one seen here -- allow the drive shaft to be connected at an angle.
