Australians have been driving Ford automobiles since the early 1900s. In 1925, Ford Motor Company of Canada set up an Australian subsidiary to manufacture, assemble, and distribute Ford automobiles. The manufacturing plant in Geelong, Victoria, made car bodies and parts used at Ford's five Australian assembly plants. Ford expanded its Geelong plant and added new equipment in the mid-1930s.
