Artifact Overview
Heart problems turned Carroll Shelby from a race car driver into a race car builder. In 1962 he dropped a Ford V-8 into a lightweight British AC Ace roadster and created the Shelby Cobra. Five of Shelby's cars finished in the top ten at Sebring in 1964. Shelby himself watched the race on crutches due to recent knee surgery.
